Project Ukraine
In the wake of the Russian Federation's attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the Ukraine project was created in cooperation with the International Office of the University of Regensburg, the AStA and Campus Asyl in March 2022 as a response to the humanitarian catastrophe. Within a few weeks, numerous helpers from all disciplines at the University of Regensburg and the OTH joined the project. Many people who sought protection in Germany before the war against Ukraine have already been helped by a dedicated team of two to three helpers. The project currently primarily supports scientists and their families as well as students. The volunteers are assigned to a family or individual and support them with all different issues. Most of the time it involves submitting applications to the immigration authorities, opening a bank account, finding a family doctor or even getting your children started at school. It's about supporting these people in all areas of their lives and helping them navigate the jungle of German authorities.
If you would like to volunteer for Ukrainians, please contact us or contact Jana Fischer directly (jana.fischer@stud.uni-regensburg.de). No specific language skills or qualifications are required. Only everyday knowledge and knowledge of bureaucratic processes are enough to help refugees from Ukraine in Regensburg.
